EVE allows you to edit multiple files at the same time:
- You can simultaneously display two files in separate windows.
- It is possible to display up to eleven files but for practical
purposes two or three are normal.
A window displays a buffer.
- The buffer's name is shown on the bottom line of the window.
- A buffer usually holds a file.
- Normally, a buffer has the same name as the file is holds.
- Many buffers can be open during an EVE session.

When you enter EVE a single window is opened:
- This displays a buffer holding the file specified in the EVE
command.
- If a file is not specified in the EVE command, a buffer called
MAIN is opened that has no associated file.
- In this case, it is easiest to QUIT and re-enter EVE
specifying a file.
